I did, immediately after surgery. I think it is pretty common...My doc gave me one of these incentive spirometers to address it. It basically encourages you to do deep breathing. Can you ask your doc for one? ....or do some deep breathing yourself? Either way, let your doc know. Kharisma 6 Posted March 4, 2020 Ok. I have 2 of them. I was admitted back to the hospital the same day of my discharge. I couldn't catch my breath and my hemoglobin levels were alarmingly low. I have an appointment today and I'm going to have them do some bloodwork for me. Thank you! 1 1 GreenTealael and ms.sss reacted to this

123456789#$% 12 Posted March 6, 2020 Hi, I'm 2 weeks post op and I remember after my surgery, I mean immediately after, I had shortness of breathing, and like a sharp pain when I took a deep breath, my brother did this same surgery 5 years back and he said it was the anesthesia that shrinks your lungs for an initial period, but now its completely gone and that spirometer really helps, right after surgery I was only able to get 2 balls in the air, now I can get all 3, oh and right after surgery, I also had this like bad back pain which also went overtime, but man, it actually ended up fixing my back problems drastically, now I feel so good. Just hang in there, oh and this is very important, breath in through your nose and breathe out through your mouth, if you don't take deep breaths, nothing will change, it will just be the same. 1 Kharisma reacted to this
Kharisma 6 Posted March 6, 2020 Thank you so much! It really helps knowing that I'm not the only one who has experienced these issues. Even the back pain. Thank you for the encouragement and I wish you all the best while you're on your journey
