Struggling to get in all my Protein. I can’t seem to tolerate the shakes since surgery. They don’t stay down very well and taste awful now. What is everyone else doing to get enough protein? Any good recipe ideas?

I hate sweet drinks so bought unflavored whey protein (Unjury, Isopure, etc) mixed with Water and broth. Tastes like a weird Soup but better than the sweet stuff. If you can’t tolerate whey, try other forms of protein. Good luck.

Surgery on the 6th of Feb. feeling great except in the evening and seem to get nauseated. Feel hungry all the time and having trouble with getting the Protein and Water. Afraid to try new foods as fear of the sick feeling. Also liquids seem to just rest on the top of my stomach and takes time to move on down, mean while am miserable. Anyone else have that issue.

This is tmi but I literally just threw up after about 45 minutes of eating less than 1 whole scrambled egg. It was just sitting in my chest(at least that’s what it felt like) I used to be able to eat a full egg scrambled with no problem. Last night, I had the same thing with some chicken that I’ve had no issue with before. I don’t know what’s going on. I can’t get a lot of drink down either. I have a virtual 6 week appointment tomorrow. Will bring it up then.

This is so weird cos I started feeling like I have a rock on my chest if I eat more than half a cup of Soup or more than 1/4 cup of solid food. I don’t hv any issues with all the foods but the quantity is miniscule and definitely e rock goes from chest to tummy and leads to being stuck 😭

There hasn't been many nice days in Massachusetts lately. I've only been cleared to walk and there's not alot of walking going on.

I feel your pain. It was starting to warm up, snow was melting and freezing to ice at night. And now we’re having snow storms. With windchill it’s been around -27 C out (-16F). It’s hard to get out much and walk because of the cold, deep snow, and hidden icy Patches. Normally I’d go and walk around a mall or walking track, but everything is closed (understandably).

Weighed myself this morning and I may be experiencing another stall. I weigh once a week and my weight was the same as last week. I'm not too worried as I am following the plan. Just part of the process I assume. I’ve lost a total of 23 lbs since surgery (sleeve) on 2/27.

Anyone dealing with heartburn? I was on the acid reducer rx for 30 days after surgery. I finished the rx 3 days ago and then a day later I have this burning in my chest. It's not too bad just annoying at this point. I've never had heartburn so not sure if this is it

Does anyone feel lightheaded in the morning? I assume this is because it’s the longest I go without eating or drinking. I have to get up very slowly and I immediately start drinking some Water I leave next to me overnight.

My routine with exercise has definitely changed too. I used to work out in the morning but now I just don’t have the energy... literally!!! I’m good towards the end of the day and I think that’s because my Fluid and Protein are at a peak.

I’m averaging about 900 calories a day right now- I’ve been lucky and I can eat anything without issue. Just have to measure everything as it is more about not having the room rather than what the food is. Hard boiled eggs and chicken were easy so I’m happy to be eating them again. I’ll be 6 weeks postop on 4/7.

Starting weight- 228
Current weight- 205

I get a little nausea in the morning when I first drink something but never lightheaded.

I'm almost at 6 weeks too. Wow 900 calories seems like alot. I barely eat anything. Maybe like 4-500 calories. I can tolerate most foods too but I'm never hungry and just seems like a hassle to eat.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
