So I had my surgery Thursday. I ended up having a very large Hiatal hernia that was repaired which caused my surgery to last 4 hours. I stayed in the hospital Thurday and Friday and came home Saturday afternoon. I still have a lot of pain from the air they put in. I was even told by the recovery room nurse that used a lot of air on me. It is starting to get some better. My biggest concern is I have had no problem at all drinking my Water. Most everyone on here says they can't get close to getting it down. I can drink even more than the 64oz they want us to drink. It makes me wonder am I going to be able to eat normally instead of just a small amount? I will be liquids for a while but I sure hope i am not going to be able to eat without restrictions! Anyone else experience this?

Water basically goes right through you, but food will sit on your stomach. Right now, it feels easier, but when you actually do get to eating food, you'll notice more.

Also, that's FANTASTIC that you can get that much water in!

But when you start eating, just eat slow, chew well, and you'll feel "full," and with restrictions. ❤️ Try not to worry about it too much.

As for the air, try your best to walk as much as possible. The more walking you can do, the faster you'll get rid of that gas.

I'm glad to hear you're doing so well! I hope I'll be able to drink Water like you.

I hope you will too. I am just a little shocked and confused because so many people have a struggle getting the Water in. I don't know if the fact I had my surgery done robotically has anything to do with it or not?

You may have less swelling than other folks, which is great!! Keep on sipping :)

I was sleeved on 2/21 & I never had a problem getting fluids down either. So, in the beginning I had the same concerns you do. I'm on purees now and I definitely feel restriction. I'm supposed to try to have 3oz of puree and can usually only have 2oz. Now that I'm eating puree I actually feel relieved that I have no problem drinking because I don't have to focus on meeting my Fluid intake. Hope I helped.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
