jbeesauntie 8 Posted February 27, 2020 Hi all, I’m new here and only 1 day post op. I was excited to get home and step on the scale but I’m up 7 pounds! I also have my menses. Anyone else experience this?

catwoman7 11,221 Posted February 27, 2020 stay off the scale for the first week. But then, the Water from the IV fluids should have worked their way out of your system. 2 Hop_Scotch and jbeesauntie reacted to this
Lynda486 784 Posted February 27, 2020 I was up 15 pounds when I got home and weighed in, so disappointing! 1 jbeesauntie reacted to this

DB in AZ 46 Posted February 27, 2020 Your tissues and organs are still very swollen from the surgery will take several weeks to go down. 1 jbeesauntie reacted to this
Meadow76 150 Posted February 27, 2020 I never peed so much starting about 2 days after surgery. Couldn’t go at all right after surgery. Your body has to chill out a bit. 1 jbeesauntie reacted to this
CammyC 291 Posted March 6, 2020 I’m post op day 3 now and have been looking for this kind of thread. I’ve actually gained weight since surgery on 3/3. When does the weight loss begin? I’ve been so worried.
catwoman7 11,221 Posted March 6, 2020 it's from the IV at the hospital - you're full of salt Water. I've heard of people gaining 10 or more lbs from it. It takes a few days to work its way out of your system. I wouldn't step on the scale until you're at least a week out of surgery. 1 Hop_Scotch reacted to this
NovaLuna 710 Posted March 7, 2020 If it helps I weighed myself the day after I left the hospital (day four) and I'd gained 3 pounds. When I had my one week check-up three days later I was down 10 pounds from my surgery which means 13 pounds in three days. I think a lot of it had to do with the IV Fluid and the not being able to have a... um, well no delicate way to say this, a bowel movement, for the first few days. It DOES come off though so don't stress too much! 2 jbeesauntie and Hop_Scotch reacted to this
