[...] saying "you look great" or something along those Iines is fine and about as much of a compliment as I would give anyone regarding their weight, but when I am on the receiving end, the cynic in me wonders how much of a beast you thought I looked like before. This and this. I don't comment on another person's weight. For so many people there are too many emotions attached to weight, losing or gaining and it makes them feel uncomfortable. For so many people there are too many emotions attached to weight, losing or gaining and it makes them feel uncomfortable. I was once a committee with a woman who probably weighed around 400 lbs. I ran into her at a party several years later, and she probably weighed about 130. I went on and on and on about how much weight she lost and how terrific she looked. She finally said thanks, but it actually wasn't a good thing. She died two or three months later of ovarian cancer. I'm always careful now when I comment about weight loss...(and I usually say they look great (which in this particular case wouldn't have been good, either) - or don't say anything at all) Edited August 8, 2020 by catwoman7
