After many hoops and tons of red tape, I can't believe that I am going to have surgery tomorrow! I am kinda worried about going under but I have done it before and I know I will do just fine. I guess this is just the "night before jitters" Have any of you experienced similar things the night before? If so, is there anything to do to get rid of them? Is whiskey considered a clear liquid? I sure could go for a crown and coke about now! HOLY COW that sounds good now that I think of it!

Anyway... I am probably just making myself more worked up by writing it all down. Plus, I am trying to get done anything that is going to have to be lifted in the next month since I cant lift after I get cut on. My wife is about to pop a little boy out of her tummy so she cant lift either. I brought in the Christmas tree this evening and set it up for us.

Ok, I am going to stop rambling now... I am just getting worked up!

I am from Waco. West side Ft. Worth is my old stompin' grounds though. I know that part of town like the back of my hand. My surgeon is Dr. Gayland Sims, here in Waco. I grew up about 30 miles SW of Ft. Worth. A little lake town. I bet you know the one I am talking about.

LOL ... unfortunately i dont ..

im a DFW transplant :D

Oh... Then you MUST take time to go visit this Christmas season. Get down to Granbury and take a walk around the historic part of town. You will fall in love with it. I promise! There is a store on the square called the De' Vine Winery. It is a great little wine store. They also make their own wine there.

WOW... I am rambling again.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
