I am consistently getting a sharp stabbing pain under one incision. It happens maybe twice a day. I walk through it but am not sure if that's what is making it go away. It's right under my ribs. I'm a week post-op and assumed that gas pain would be done by now.

Anyone else getting stabbing pains at random times?

Not sure if this would be the same for you but, I had consistent odd pains like that early on. I mentioned them to the np. She told me that they called where I was “the ooey gooey” phase lol! She said that is where things are starting to settle and stick together again.

you may want to give your dr a call just to be sure.

Maybe it is regular gas and not the gas from surgery too.

Sorry but it takes about 4 months - See they propped up your liver to get to you stomach and stretched and moved all kinds of parts and pieces around. I asked the doc about this and your body needs to re adjust and get its parts and pieces back in place. Took me over 3 months for that sharp pain to finally stop. i used to get it while sleeping and wake up in a cold fling - Sucks but it goes away

I think I had random stabbing pains for two or three weeks, as I recall...

I had one larger incision that my doctor used to remove the piece of my stomach. He put a couple of sutures in it. The others were small enough that the didn't need it. I had some times when I could feel it pull and cause a sharp pain. Just a guess on my part though, but you should check with your doctor.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
