brejones89 0 Posted February 18, 2020 Hey all! I have an appointment Friday to start my 3 month supervised diet prior to surgery! I'm excited but nervous at the same time. What should I expect during this next three months? What sort of diet were you asked to follow? Thanks!

GradyCat 3,695 Posted February 18, 2020 Each doctor's office will have slightly different plans, some will be calorie restrictions like < 1500 calories/day, some will be focus on Protein. But you can bet it's cut out fat and processed foods.
catwoman7 11,221 Posted February 18, 2020 mine had me eating 2300 calories, logging my food intake, exercising at least 4-5 times a week, weaning myself off of caffeine, and gradually increasing my Protein and decreasing my carbs. In essence, making a gradual transition to what life would be like post-op. But the above poster is right - plans can vary between clinics and dietitians. 1 breavsg reacted to this
brejones89 0 Posted February 18, 2020 Thanks everyone! I assume there would be some variability. My insurance isn't requiring it at all, but the office wanted me to do so. I'm pretty thankful for that, because as you mentioned, I would assume it would help with the transition into the new post-op lifestyle!
mcfluffington 179 Posted February 18, 2020 (edited) Good luck! It should help you to get in the mindset you will need to keep off the weight. Edited February 18, 2020 by mcfluffington
over65 133 Posted February 18, 2020 Dietician gave me a eating plan based on diabetic diet. I couldn't lose weight on that diet after two weeks. So switched to Premier Protein shakes for two meals. Lost 12 lbs last month. Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app
It's time. 145 Posted February 20, 2020 I am not restricted with any food, but we set a few goals each month, such as getting off caffeine ( hard to do), giving up alcohol ( easy to do), increase Water to 60 oz ( I started at 30 and at 50 oz now), start exercising and maintain it, try out different Protein Shakes, add fruit and veggie into my diet consistently, add multi vit and the calcium citrate pills to lunch and dinner. And to not drink for 30minutes before and 30 minutes after each meal. This is very hard to do, but I'm trying. 1 breavsg reacted to this

BadWolfGirl 245 Posted February 20, 2020 Why no Keto? My doctor doesn't believe in Keto as a long term successful way to eat. I agree with him and enjoy fruits and veggies and feel they are nourishing to my body.Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
