Will my incisions heal ok?

Recommended Posts

When I was out of surgery, I looked at my tummy and I had 4 incisions going straight across and I thought there was supposed to be 5. This is embarrassing but I have large breasts that "hang" when not in a bra. When I lifted one breast, I found the 5th incision. On top that, when I'm sitting down, my breast not only covers that one that is all the way underneath it but it also sits on the port incision.

Being that this is only 2 days out from surgery, I cringe at the thought of putting a bra on, but maybe I should keep one on at all times to try to keep them above the incisions? Or will this not matter.

Thanks!

Mine hang so bad that without a bra on I can only see two of my five incisions. They've always been like that though, even when I was fairly thin. I don't wear a bra at home. I did wear a sports bra (rather than my underwire) for the first two weeks after surgery. Then I wore my regular bra but at a looser setting because it was putting pressure on one of the incisions. Now I'm back to wearing it the regular way almost four weeks post surgery.

I have the same problem and went the route of a sports bra. I returned to work before my incisions healed enough to go back to my underwire. I am 3 wks out from surgery and still wearing the sports bra. I plan to go back to the underwire because of support, but I'll wait awhile until my tummy isn't sore.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
