Chas74 56 Posted February 16, 2020 I'm six day post surgery and still bloated feeling and I find it's hard to take a deep breath. Has anybody else had this problem? Any advice on how to fix it or does it just have to fix itself in time?
Lynda486 784 Posted February 16, 2020 It will resolve with time. I actually started to have trouble breathing at 2 weeks post op and after an afternoon in the ER and a blood clot scare I was diagnosed with Pleurisy. So keep an eye on it, but as your swelling and gas goes down it should resolve Congratulations! 1 Chas74 reacted to this
Chas74 56 Posted February 16, 2020 Thanks. I know I worry about any little thing but I just wanted other's opinions. I know it's soon but I was just wondering. I would feel good if it wasn't for this bloated feeling. 1 Lynda486 reacted to this
GradyCat 3,696 Posted February 16, 2020 It just resolves itself in time. Hang in there.
breavsg 90 Posted February 16, 2020 Did they send you home with an incentive spirometer? The thing that you blow in? Using that a couple times an hour should help to clear your lungs and get things moving to make it easier to breathe, but I would definitely make a call to your surgeon to make sure everything is okSent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J327AZ using BariatricPal mobile app 1 Uomograsso reacted to this

Chas74 56 Posted February 16, 2020 Yes, I have a spirometer and I use it. I figured it would have to resolve itself but I figured I would ask anyways. 1 breavsg reacted to this

Sammi_Katt 303 Posted February 16, 2020 I did, too, but they made me do deep breaths and cough while pressing a pillow into my stomach 4-5 times a day for about two weeks. Those muscles have been cut and they're trying to repair, so of course it's gonna suck a bit trying to do anything that involves using them, which unfortunately includes breathing sometimes. Hope you feel better soon.
