It's the second Wednesday of the month so I could go for a spontaneous mood swing right about now

How about it's winter and I'm cold... Why Meeeeee

Or the end of Logan was far too much to handle when the cross was repositioned as an X... the flood gates opened

And my favorite my eyebrows are "sisters" and not "twins"...

I lost a coping mechanism. Binge eating was my skill I used to keep my emotions in check, and now that I no longer have the ability to do that, I am suddenly faced with EMOTIONS.

It sucks, but I've been actively going to therapy and finding it very helpful. I'm learning new skills (creative wise, I'm knitting and doing things for fun that I never would have tried before) and just learning in general. Yes, I still have horrible mood swings sometimes, but it gets a little easier?

You just gotta hang in there and do your best, and all the support you can get and give is even better.

a lot of women experience mood swings that first few weeks or months after weight loss surgery. A big part of it is supposedly related to the fact that estrogen is stored in fat cells. During the rapid weight loss period, that estrogen starts being released and floods your system - hence, mood swings. It should all eventually stabilize..

It could also be low blood sugar having an effect. I know I get really cranky when I havnt had at least something at regular intervals. I also was never good at eating on time. Also since the hunger isnt there the same as before, forgetting to eat is very easy. For me I drink Meal Replacement or Protein Shakes no matter if Im hungry or not and it keeps my blood sugar on an even keel.

I have had some mood swings, for sure. I have PCOS and I know my hormones are way more regulated. My period actually comes when it's supposed to, every month. And yes, we all used food as a coping mechanism. It's an adjustment, but I promise you, it doesn't last long and gets better. She will be ok; just be supportive and kind :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
