chocolate Chip Mint, Peanut Butter chocolate, Creamy Caramel Dip and Dark Chocolate Mousse

i figure if i hate something, i'll mix it with something else - even if it is muscle milk or something - and make it decent...

Ooh. I may harass you for a sample of some of those! (Not that I need to find more Protein that I like, of course, since I still have 5 jugs of the stuff sitting around that I rarely use. :faint:)

i am taking a week off work for my plastics... this is crazy, right? wtf am i thinking?

do i need 2, 3, 4??

I would think you'd need more than a week. Heck, I barely felt up to doing anything a week after band surgery, I can't imagine having a TT and going back after a week.

LJM, congrats on your upcoming surgery. I'm hoping to book mine in February as well.

This will be my *second* round of plastics. I lost 90 lbs. about 14 years ago, and 12 years ago I had a thigh/buttock lift and breast lift/augmentation. Of course, I then proceeded to gain all that weight back plus much more and basically threw all that money & pain out the window! But, I can tell you from that experience, that going back to work after a week will be pushing it. At a week out, I was happy to be back to doing basic, everyday stuff, like putting in a load of laundry, or fixing dinner, but I don't think I could have put in a full day at work. Can you go in for a couple of hours for a few days?

Tami

i'm willing to swap some flavors!! :D

i had my LB on a monday and could have gone back to work that Thurs/Friday...

i am having TT on Friday and taking that week off and going back the following Monday (going back 10 days after surgery) i can maybe take a few more days, but really dont want to do more cause i think i have to take either vacation or unpaid leave since it is 'elective' surgery ...

yeah, 'elective', the balance issues i am having, dont want to fix those issues at all

Where do you get the whey shakes? Please let me know how you like them when yours come. I think you should take 2-3 weeks off work if you can. Julie, others with experience, what do you think?

LJM - Back to work 10 days after!!! I would say maybe 2 weeks would be pushing it, cant you get a sick note saying that it is reconstructive, for your health, if you dont watch it I will go off with a bad back kind of surgery?

I have got the gourmet shakes and I have to say they are the nicest Protein shakes on the market, the cappucino one is my favorite

Tami - Good luck, hope you get booked in there is a bunch of us going at the same time so we will all be able to see each other through it - have to say that I have bagged the class wimp position though.

Karey - if you google gourmet whey shakes it will come up with loads of places that sell it.

heh... not so much... i work for a mAAjor (ahem) corporation and im filing FMLA paperwork for the hernia, but our FMLA system is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO strict.

i've already been out 2 times in a rolling year, 3rd time is not looked upon kindly at all - as in if there are layoffs you'll more than likely be the first to go...

we'll see though...

Explain what FMLA is, though I get the gist and that sounds like a good idea. How many days holiday do you get in a year? I seem to remember that you get worked like dogs in the USA!

Do you do a desk job?Are you even allowed to drive that soon after surgery?

FMLA is a federal act Family Medical Leave Act put in place by President Clinton. basically it gives you 12 weeks a year if you medically need it (or i took it for my adoption as well) without retribution from the company. not sure how many holidays we get, maybe 10-12ish. i get 3 weeks of vacation a year (and i may also purchase one as well) and 40 hours of sick a year.

i do have a desk job, i am in a management position at a mAAjor international airline. i dunno what my driving restrictions are going to be. i just spoke with my coordinator today about more Lipo on my back and reconfirmed a week off would be plenty. she assured me a lot of their patients do only take a week off. it is mostly attitude - i have a good attitude about returning in a week, i should be fine. definitely not 100%, but fine.

looks like i may be getting lipo on my back as well. i initially thought the bottom part of my back would be covered, not completely, so im just going to ask about back lipo at my pre-op. might be another 1500, but worth it...

attached is an unfortunate picture of my backside ... ick

Ahhh FMLA sounds like a cool act!! We get 20-28 days holiday a year, plus national holidays, which probably works out to about 5 -7 weeks depending on what job you have, better job = better benefits.

Just a question, how come you didnt opt for the LBL?I was just thinking that it would get rid of the need for back Lipo. But then you might still want the bra roll done, it is definatly on my list of places to suction.I know what you mean about the money though I am definately in the if I am doing thid I am going to do it right frame of mind!

FMLA is better than what we had before, which was retribution from companies if we had to take extended leaves of absences from work, but it is UNPAID time off. Before FMLA, you could get fired for taking off too much for family issues. Now, if it was PAID time off then it would be a great benefit and I could understand being strict about approving it so it wasn't abused.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
