Yes I was definitely scared at first but it went smooth[emoji92]I just remembered what I can have and enjoyed myself..I want to try a smoothie tomorrow with some spinach but I’m scared[emoji23][emoji23]I’ll keep ya posted in morning if all goes well with fruit smoothie w spinach[emoji526][emoji529][emoji3055]
I have a fruit smoothie almost every morning. Handful of spinach, frozen tropical fruit, almond milk, half a banana or avocado and a scoop of GENEPRO. It's the only way I can get Liquid Protein in. I follow dr v. Recipe

Hey everyone, I'm brand new to the forum and this is my first reply to a thread. I had VSG surgery January 27th, so I'm almost 3 weeks out. Physically I feel fine, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't missing food a lot!

I moved to pureed diet last Monday after 4 weeks all liquid and that first egg I ate was the best thing ever. Today I tried an egg with a runny yolk and thankfully it went down smoothly.

I did throw up for the first time last week when I ate a small piece of salmon, I think I ate it too fast, so I've definitely been a bit gun shy. Sounds like you guys are really brave with your diets, I'm scared to try all these new foods.

I also think I've hit my stall early, I only lost 2lbs last week which was really discouraging. But for now I'm focused on getting in my fluids and Protein Shake (premier protein), and getting food in around that, but between fluids and all the damn supplements I find I'm not hungry all too often.

I'm following now, can't wait to see how everyone is doing!

Same day surgery but I had RNY! I'm on soft foods now and life is so good EXCEPT I am having a much harder time hydrating when I eat real food since we can't eat after. I was really tired and lethargic today and decided to just go full liquids to get my energy back up and it worked wonders !

I only threw up once and it was deli turkey that I ate way too fast so I feel ya there! I do have some of what I call "food sweats" if I eat too fast or too rich (had a bisque the other day woowweee) but that passes after 10-15 minutes and then I'm fine and it helps me learn a lesson.

So far my best friends are: refried Beans with cheese and sour cream, a small spoonful of Peanut Butter (great way to get calories and Protein up) and banana, blended veggie Soups, and my morning green smoothie. None of that has bothered me at all!

Hello surgery friend! Thanks for the advice, unfortunately i hate most Beans which is going to be an issue for me, and I'm afraid to try Peanut Butter since it's a favorite food of mine, I think I'd have issues with limiting it.

Tonight I made some browned ground turkey in a Tomato sauce, and it's going down really nicely and is actually really yummy. I do want to try the blended veggie Soup and I'm dying for some hummus so I'm hoping that agrees with me.

The day after I threw up I went to full liquids also, I had missed my hydration goal two days in a row at that point. Now I'm making Water my goal instead of food, I'm seriously nervous about getting dehydrated.

I made salted caramel Protein mini-cheesecakes yesterday. It was delicious. Texture was more cake like than cheesecake, but that was OK. My stomach handled it fine, but I could only eat about 2/3 of it. I used 4 oz ramekin and the recipe makes 4. 205 calories, 13 g fat, 6 g carbohydrate, 15 g protein.

Welcome. I had VSG surgery on Jan. 27th too! I just started purees Friday and so far, so good. I've had scrambled egg, refried Beans with mashed avocado, broccoli cheese Soup, and pureed sweet potato with Protein Powder. For the last two days I've had a green smoothie with Protein powder and I really think that's helped my energy.

I've lost 19 pounds so far, but I know the stall is coming....I think everyone experiences it around weeks 3-5.

Welcome!! I’m an RNY 1/27 twin as well!! I’m super lucky as I don’t even feel like I have had surgery- until I eat that is! I eat 2-3 ounces and I’m like YEP. Somethings different. or if I forget and gulp and big swallow of water- that’s the worst. That’s actually the only things that’s come back up so far... PTL.

So far our January group has been super active. You’ve come to the right place!!

Yaya you! I lost 14 since surgery and then hiy the dreaded 6 week stall! Not worried, just plugging away.

Today we leave for 2 days to Chicago (driving distance) with the kids. I packed an entire lunch box of foods for myself but this is gonna be a true test of my energy hahaha !

I've lost about 13lbs since surgery, but I'm hoping I just hit my stall early and my body will pick up soon. Sweet potato with Protein powder sounds like such a good idea!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
