grandmap 1 Posted February 8, 2020 I had my surgery 6 days ago and being on a more restrictive clear liquid than pre-surgery, I am starving. Nothing I drink is helping this feeling subside. Is there anything I can do? I thought about sucking on pieces of a saltine cracker.
NicoleGB 1 Posted February 8, 2020 Ensure Max Protein 30g has helped a lot. I was told to be on Clear Liquids for no more than 2 days after surgery

kristieshannon 1,668 Posted February 8, 2020 Do you have Pho restaurants in your area? The most satisfying thing to me while I was on liquids only was beef Pho broth. Warm, yummy, and helped me make it through that stage.
JettK 26 Posted February 8, 2020 I'm 4 days post'op and thankfully havent had any hunger issues. I only had to stay on clear liquors for 24hrs after the surgery then I started Protein Shakes (takes me 2 meals to drink one) I've also used the Crystal light lemonade and the Premier Protein Water and last night had a 1/4 cup (maybe) of homemade Tomato Soup. Try the cream Soups and a small spoon and eat them slowly... Jello or jello pudding as well. Hang in there! Be sure you are keeping up with your water intake!! grandmap 1 Posted February 8, 2020 It might help if I could drink some of my Protein Drinks. They didn’t have me starting on those until Tuesday. But the broth from the Pho restaurant sounds of interest. I used to love beef broth before surgery now I like the chicken broth better.
Darktowerdream 421 Posted February 9, 2020 You should try Bone Broth, that would help satisfy you and provide more Protein than regular broth as well. Look for a true bone broth. Kettle & fire costs more but is very well made. There also pacific foods a turkey that’s good. Imagine foods makes a beef, chicken, turkey bone broth that’s very good. You want a sipping bone broth. here’s kettle & fire they have other flavors and it’s priced very well here. I shop here all the time. I click through Rakuten to shop and get cash back each purchase (I’ve used both for many years) I also signed up for the site and get coupons. Although you can find it in the grocery. Some things I get better price online. Especially when they send me a coupon. https://www.vitacost.com/kettle-fire-bone-broth Btw if you are interested in Rakuten please use my link. https://www.rakuten.com/r/SLEEPE28?eeid=28187 1 kdgarcia reacted to this

lisafrommassachusetts 319 Posted February 9, 2020 What are Protein puddings? Also, I bought some cream of chicken Soup off of this site, you mix it with Water. Can you have that once you are off just clear liquids?
grandmap 1 Posted February 9, 2020 I was told I could do the cream Soups starting Monday. I don’t know about any Protein pudding‘s. I was told I could eat sugar free pudding. You can have these after you’re clear liquids or according to your physicians plan.
Darktowerdream 421 Posted February 9, 2020 Here’s an example of BariatricPal Protein pudding, butter toffe is pretty good. You can thin it out as much as you like. I’ve mixed with yogurt sometimes and/ Or with unsweetened ripple milk for extra creaminess and protein instead of just all Water. https://store.bariatricpal.com/products/bariatricpal-protein-instant-pudding-dark-chocolate I haven’t tried their protein Gelatin mixes yet https://store.bariatricpal.com/products/bariatricpal-protein-gelatin-raspberry it’s very important that since when you first start out your portions are very small to make sure you are getting protein first. They also have protein Soups including ones with Vitamins. prices might seem higher but your portions are much smaller. Plus you earn points for discounts on future purchases. I don’t buy too often but get certain basics sometimes when they have a good coupon sale. one thing I wish I had right after surgery is their Protein Shots and protein juice ... You can get a variety pack to try the flavors. I like pink lemonade. https://store.bariatricpal.com/products/bariatricpal-15g-protein-collagen-shots-variety-packs
dee0128 6 Posted February 9, 2020 What helped me at the 6 day mark was chicken noodle Soup with non-flavored Protein Powder. You have to make sure you get your daily Protein minimum and stay hydrated!! The first 2 weeks are the hardest because your body is getting used to the shock after surgery. You got this!!Sent from my REVVLRY using BariatricPal mobile app

I will order some of the pudding and it will be here waiting for when I get back from the hospital. I had already ordered some of their soups; I have cream of chicken and one of cream of mushroom. 15 g of protein, so not as much as the Protein Shakes, but I will need some break from all that sweet taste. Do you continue to use these type of products? I can see incorporating some of these into my work lunches post surgery, for the extra protein.

It's just a sugarfree, proteinrich alternativ to puddings. Like chockolate, custard, etc. Would think the options are greater in the US than in the most boring food country of them all, which I live in🤣 I've heard about Protein Jello, I don't know more about this. But one can also have sugarfree Jello. I make jello out of sugarfree limonade and Gelatin. It has a little protein. Usually blend a little keso with vanilla for a "vanilla sause" go go with. Also heard about tasteless proteinpowder to mix in Water etc. Never tried it. Soups are liquids so as soon as you are of clears, you can have creamed Soups, but pls don't force if your stomach cannot handle it. Thank you!

I can see incorporating some of these into my work lunches post surgery, for the extra Protein. I do still buy certain thing’s although not often. Some people do find them handy for work lunches. The creamy chicken Pasta is pretty good. I actually had it on purée just cooked very soft since it’s easy to chew to purée. I couldn’t tolerate normal purée foods. . I like their protein pancakes. I did try some of their protein chips. As I’m supposed to be doing more normal foods. I had half a small bag with two soft boiled eggs. As you advance you can get more creative with your work lunches. in the early stages try things like chia pudding I bought their protein mashed potato mix and I make that sometimes with a small veggie burger. Ie. Boca turky burger 2.5 oz 70 calories, 11 grams protein. I liked it with dr Praeger’s black bean chipotle pollock burger, 2.5 oz 90 calories 10 grams protein but my store stopped selling them. It took me longer than most to eat normal foods. I’m still eating fairly soft foods. my head is tired. But I’m sure there’s lots of ideas. Some people prepare their own meals fresh. I don’t have energy for it. I do a mix of buying a few things from BariatricPal, I buy things like veggie burgers, veggie sausage, if they come in small portion right calories, Egglands Best eggs, plain Greek yogurt or TwoGood yogurt, I mix PEScience select protein powder in yogurt. That helped a lot during purée. As did good culture cottage cheese cups. I admit I treat myself to a little land o lakes whipped topping (sugar free) on my yogurt. and evening coffee. BariatricPal does have protein coffee with Vitamins and protein hot cocoa with marshmallows that’s pretty decent. i love using ripple milk unsweetened plain , they also have unsweetened vanilla. It’s plant protein. sorry for rambling. 1 lisafrommassachusetts reacted to this
