I am wondering if there is a food database where I can input specific restrictions on certain macros to find something that will work with my diet. For instance, I am currently on the Keto diet and I managed to hit my limit of carbs and and am way over my allowed fat for the day (damn you, IKEA meatballs and Oreo eggs 🤬), but I don't have enough protein! Normally I eat the same thing everyday because it's easier since I know everything is being met. However, on days like today, I am struggling to find something that isn't going to add more carbs and fat to what I've already managed to shove into my body.

So, anyone know of a database where this information could be found? I get that brands vary, but it would at least point me in the right direction (and I am getting a little tired of Protein Shake, tuna, and yogurt everyday 😅).

Keto calculator, macro calculator, digital food Journal, MyFitnessPal, Baritastic, etc

But you may have to write things out until you have a handle on it

I don’t need a calculator. I was looking for a search engine for food based on the amount of x, y, z macros in it. I know that I can look up the nutrition for individual items, and I do that all the time. If one of those places show that, I would definitely be interested.

I am looking for something that will give me useable food (ideas), instead of me looking up individual items and hoping they ‘fit’ my daily goals without going over limits. Hope this was more clear than my original post.

MyFitnessPal has been my savior during my pre-op journey! :)

MFP has been great for me too! I track everything I eat there and helps keep me in check, but I am just hoping to find a tool where I can find foods that I may not have thought of, that would fit my macros instead of sticking to the same variety of foods I’ve made to fit my macros for now. :)

I don't know of any...but who knows, one might exist. When I'm really buckling down, I log my food ahead of time (e.g., the night before or that morning). I log everything that I plan to eat for the day. Then if the macros are off, I do some substitutions (for some of the food items) until the total macros for the day come out like I want.

I understand now.

No I haven't seen anything like what you want, but Google may help. You may find books or meal plans.

Good Luck 🌈

Yeah, I typically do the same thing along the lines of planning my food out the night before. Helps me feel 'safe' about my food intake and I don't have to worry about it the day-of since I know exactly what I will be eating. I just had a rough day yesterday and ended up messing myself up. It would have been convenient to have access to a database like that with search functions.

I found this website: https://frida.fooddata.dk/data?lang=en

Alone, it lets you sort by a specific macro, but it also lets you download the datasheet. I asked my husband if it would be possible for him to set up a page for me to use that would let me do exactly what I've been asking for here. He's working on it today, so I will let ya'll know how it goes later!

It is a Danish website, but they do translate it to English. I assume the datasheet will come in English as well. We can toss it up on our server if it works and if anyone is interested in trying it, I'd be happy to share. Think it's something everyone could use! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
