Gallbladder Problems

Recommended Posts

So, it's been an eventful month for me. I am one month post op from my sleeve- I was feeling great, doing great, and then at about two weeks in, everything kind of went splort.

I was in and out of the er three times before I was admitted and had to stay for five days. The doctors there were unsure what was happening beyond me being extremely dehydrated (I went almost two weeks without eating ANYTHING and was having a hard time keeping more than 6-8oz of Water down a day), and ran a slew of tests...

My surgeon (the one who did my sleeve) eventually made them run another test that showed my gallbladder only performing at 15%. So if it weren't for her, I'd probably be back in the hospital again for something else, honestly...

I'm having surgery on Friday (the 7th) to get my gallbladder removed. I was wondering how many people went through this and if you can offer any words of advice. I just want to feel better... it's been non-stop dry heaving, nausea, and vomiting for almost three weeks now, and I am literally at my wit's end with this. Thank you. :)

Wow. I am really surprised that they did t do surgery right away.

I had my gallbladder out more than 20 years ago. However I was in much of the same shape that you were in as far as being extremely sick before it was removed.

I felt SO much better after it was out. The surgery itself was very easy for Me. I was in pretty good shape back then too.

I just can’t believe that they are waiting to remove yours since you are so sick and not able to eat or drink. If it gets any worse before Friday go back to the ER I bet that they will go ahead and do the surgery.

good luck and hang in there!

It's crazy how one tiny organ going haywire can really bring you down.

I got it removed and besides feeling like I worked out too hard at the gym on my core, I feel night and day better. If you develop gallbladder problems, get it out. So worth not being miserable for.

Gall stones are a big thing after surgery. Most people I know post op have had Gall stone. I had them. Hernia is another thing. I have two herias but they won't operate because of all the post op scarring from the surgery...so I just have to hold my stomach when I sneeze. There are pros and cons because of this surgery

Other than that I have been feeling well physically. I have a couple of hernias. They won't operate but Its not intolerable. Have to weigh the pros and the cons I guess.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
