Do I need a fill

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 2/20/07. I had 2 fills under fluro so far. I am able to eat more at times, but then I vomit some of the time. I know i don't always eat the right foods and I'm still trying to see what I can or can't eat. Ex. can't handle rice. I've been hanging around the same weight for about 1 1/2 months now. I am definitely restricted, but its hard to know if you are restricted enough.

Weight loss so far : 45lbs but 15 of it was before surgery

Sounds like you are eating the wrong things. We are not to eat regular high carb foods like rice. They told me,only once in a while, then remember you did it and start back to low carb. I've only been banded 5 weeks and I feel hungry alot but I know carbs are out .

I think you might want to re-focus on the basics of eating according to the post-op diet at this time. Getting a fill isn't always the answer.

Casey, how much can you consume at once? If you can consume 1 cup and still lose you are lucky. In my case, I need to consume 1/4 to 1/2 cup to lose.

I'd look at what you're eating and how much exercise you're dong first and foremost and if that doesnt move things again, then I'd look at getting another fill.

I can eat at least a cup at most of my meals. I appreciate the comments. I do need to go back to the basics, and be exercising more. I am still pretty new to getting adjusted to the band, and sometimes you loose focus on what exactlly you are suppose to be doing. It is definitely a life change. I still try to sneak a snack in every so often, which i know i am not suppose to do. I will do good for a while then its like you get lax for a little while. Thank you for the comments!:paranoid

Help.... I'm in the same boat. I can eat probably over a cup at a time and am getting hungry every couple of hours. Eg. I had Cereal for Breakfast at 7:30 and by 10:30 was HUNGRY. I had a whole 8oz yogurt which did nothing for me. I have a 2.4 of 4cc fill. Do I need more? If so, I need to get into the doc ASAP as I will need a passport to go see him as of 01/01/08.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
