I didn't mind the liquid-only phase because I got to drink all the chocolate Protein Drinks I wanted! LOL!

I have to go on a 6 day liquid diet for surgery. VSG scheduled 02/05/2020. I have been drinking Premier Protein and chicken broth however I am quite sick of the Premier. I just made my own shake today with some samples of Bariatric Fusion chocolate shake powder I had and a little pb fit- it was so good! I have 3 more days of this. I feel hungry but I know it will get better. Keep your eye on the prize and keep hydrated. Were all doing this for good reasons! 😊

Bone Broth is great. For me I prefer PEScience select Protein Powder and mixed my own with Ripple milk (original unsweetened) and let it thicken in the fridge before drinking I wasn’t a big fan of a lot of ready to drink Protein Shakes. Although labrada lean Body salted caramel is pretty decent. I didn’t use Premier Protein (being allergic to iodine) for a grocery store rtd Protein boost Max is pretty decent. If you want juice flavor BariatricPal has juice protein mixes, I liked mixing with ocean spray 5 calorie juice (I ,Ike the grapefruit) they also have protein boullion mixes as well as protein powder mix with Vitamins. Lots of choices for liquids.

honestly, one thing I wish I’d known about for post op was BariatricPal Protein Shots (I like the pink grapefruit) 15 grams of protein, 60 calories, in a 3 oz shot.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
