Had my gastric sleeve surgery last week on Thursday with no complications thankfully. Since day one I have been able to drink Water just fine, take pills also...well it’s been 6 days and have tried to get as close as 64 oz of water a day as I could and I’ve been drinking some broth, and some sipping on Protein Shakes per my doctor she said main focus is water not Protein but I am hungry! Is this normal? Yesterday I thought it was a mental thing but today I actually feel my empty stomach growling? Any one have any advise?

Yes Water goes thru you fast - here is a trick -

Make a broth or base, I suggest you use Bacon Base or chicken base - Sip it every hour about 5 oz and you will stop the hunger -

The base or broth has great amount of minerals also and will make you feel better - you are close to being able to add some soft things to the bases so blend and enjoy - Also add a small amount of Protein Powder

DO NOT USE STORE BOUGHT BROTH OR BASE IF YOU CAN AVOID IT, THEY ARE LOADED WITH SALT AND CHEAP ONES HAVE CHEMICALS -

It's okay to be a little hungry. Just stick with small portion sizes. Some of it could be head hunger.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
