I haven't had surgery just yet. I've met with my surgeon back in November and I told him I wanted the sleeve, but just a couple of days ago I've been considering the RnY bypass.

I did but I am not typical. I knew in my heart that the bypass would have been a better surgery for me from the start. I feared the malabsorption and possible complications from bypass so I opted for the sleeve.
never experienced gerd in my life. Until after my sleeve.
about 1 year post sleeve I had gerd and a hiatal hernia. Ended up having to revise to bypass. Some of the things that made me think hard about having the bypass in the beginning was that I did not want to have to do surgery twice.
having said that, there are many people that do just fine and are successful with the sleeve.

No regrets at all. It wasn't all easy, but it wasn't all that hard either. I've not had any complications from the surgery and my lifestyle is a lot better.

Definitely do not regret a thing. Best decision I have ever made. I only wish I would have done it sooner.

I'm only 6 weeks out but I'm so excited about having had the sleeve! I'm only 28lbs down so far but there is a difference in how I feel for sure. I don't regret it and I pray I never grow to.

No regrets, it saved my life and gave me a new start. This girl huffed and puffed down the block, to her car, and is not preparing to do a race and does 6 to 8 miles in a day. Aside from typical pain at the big incision (where the stomach comes out), I've been blessed with no complications and haven't gotten sick once yet. Yes, I've had uncomfortable bloating, and some times feel nauseated (mostly my Vitamins, which I'm changing) but that's all. It's been such a tremendous blessing, but it's truly a personal decision. All I can suggest is to educate yourself, listen to your surgeon and nutritionist and, if you make the choice, don't let others get you down.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
