Missy, I live in Gilroy and I have a wonderful surgeon who does my fills in San Jose named Dr. Robert McKeen. He takes other doctor's patients if you need a fill doctor who is closer.

Missy, that is actually a really good price! I think mine is more like $9k and $200 a fill no matter how many you need. I have spent a lot of money on fills! Good luck. Its exciting.

Hi all! I live in the Redwood City area and had my surgery done at Kaiser South San Francisco. Great experience all around and my fills are done at Kaiser, too. I unfortunately have a deductible plan, so my fills cost me $100, however, I know others that are on co-pay plans and they only pay $15, $25, etc.

Hey, we are moving to either the El Segundo/Torrance area or down in San Pedro. We are military, so the surgery is covered, but the fills aren't. I am being banded on Jan 25. The docs think that I could possibly get two to three fills before we leave, but the rest is on my own. Does anyone know of a good doc that will not rape and pillage for a fill?

Amy

I am 60 yrs old and want to have lap band surgery. I have noticed a lot of LB patients talking about fills. What are they? I live in Manteca,CA. I am just beginning to check it out.

the band itself will not restrict the amount of food you eat. you have a port that allows the doctor to put saline in the tube so it tightens and gives you restriction.

Is it painful to have these adjustments? I have just been turned down by one insurance company, I am now going to apply with our new insurance company. This process takes so long that is discouraging.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
