My first dr appt I weighed 226.8. And surgery I weighed 205.something. Surgery was Sept 4, 2019. My doctors goal weight was 160. I suprassed that by 3 1/2- 4 months. I weighed 149 exactly this morning. Weight loss was rapid for the first 2 months and much slower the last 2 1/2 months. The scale only drops maybe 1-2 times a week and my morning weights go up and down within 3 pounds when I do not drop. But... I AM still losing weight. And I am still loosing inches. And my health is greatly improved. BYW, I am 5"4.5".

I am 153 cm and weighed 74kg in 2009 when I got my band. I got down to approx 50kg, slowly regained and sat in the mid 50s for a while and then the weight snowballed rapidly.

I had a revision to RNY last January at a weight of 66 kg. I am now down to between 48.8 and 49.5 and maintaining fairly easily.

My journey started in 2009 with the band. I am 5'2" and my SW with the band was 232lbs. My weight for 7+ years was 143. In march 2017 i got the flu and my band slipped and had to have emerg. removal. I search everywhere for a dr. to do a revision because i knew that i couldn't control my weight alone. Everyone said the same thing.... You don't weigh enough... Over the next 2.5 years, i put on 30lbs. and still, i was told i didn't weigh enough. I was weeks from going to Mex when i found my dr. here. He qualified me as a revision. So 8/28/19 i was revised to the sleeve. Starting weight 173.5 (bmi 30-31) Of course i was also cash pay. 14k.

today i weigh 134.6lbs.

Hey there. I am 5 feet and 2 inches. I started my medically supervised diet at 208 lbs. I was 197.5 lbs on surgery day. Today I am seven weeks post-op and I weigh 172.0 lbs. I have noticed that if you get the surgery at a lower BMI, you will have slower weight loss than those with a higher BMI. At first, this was a great cause of concern because I felt like I wasn't on track but after doing research I realized my progress is just fine. I'm really happy about my surgery and I'm excited to see further weight loss in the future. My first goal is 150 lbs and I am already 60% complete with that goal at only 7 weeks post op.

I’m 161cm (5ft 3in) and weighed 91kg (200lbs BMI 35.1) at the start of my journey in April & 85.8kg on the day of my surgery in May last year. I hit my goal of 60kg at the 6mth mark. At 8.5mths out I’m about 53kg (116lbs BMI 20.4) & working on maintaining.

Initially I was losing 2-2.5kg a week for the first two months but this slowed to 1.5kg and then about 1kg per week. I was very happy with this progress.

Your weekly loss rate will be less than those with a higher BMI starting point but you will notice the physical loss & changes more quickly. For me, a 10kg loss was a full dress size drop (almost 2 sizes), people were commenting on my weight loss & the list of non scale victories grew almost weekly.

Good luck on your journey.

40lbs in a year you must be very patient.

I think I lost 40 in the first month but of course I was much heavier

What a ridiculous comment! It's a well known fact that the more you have to lose the faster you lose it. The closer you get to goal the harder it becomes!

Generally women also have a harder time losing weight particularly as we age due to hormonal changes.

I was 101kg day of surgery and 164cm, and 16 months later I'm 63kg, and I train a lot (body building and trail running) so have significantly more muscle than most 47 year old women (have background in fitness so it came back fairly quickly). But is very slow now to get any more off, would like to lose another 5kg.

I'm 5'6" and I weighed 230 pounds (104kg) on the day of my gastric sleeve on 8 October last year. I'm currently 168 pounds. My weight loss has been consistent and only slowed when I started doing bodypump a few weeks ago. I'm still dropping centimetres so trying not to freak about the scales. I'm only 12kg off my goal weight which seems incredible to me, only a few months ago I was obese, miserable and unfit - I feel like I have a new lease on life.

We are of similar starting weight and age (though you are 2 inches taller and you had your surgery 2 months before me...but close enough! :) )...

Are you looking to lose weight, or inches?

I ask because this far out (given my diet and activity level), what the scale tells me every morning is starting to lose its significance (sort of). I weigh more right now than I did in high school, but I am much smaller in overall size now than then.

I attribute this to a higher percentage of lean muscle mass...yes, I was slim when I was younger, but I was not nearly as fit.

Given your own exercise regime, and higher muscle mass (which we all know is much more dense than fat), you may be better off comparing cm vs kilos, maybe?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
