Nikkidoodlebug 120 Posted January 27, 2020 Ok.... so I had Gastric Sleeve Surgery in March of 2015,, so almost 5 years ago. So have any of you “old timers”. The women on here,, had a problem of having a TOTAL LOSS of sex drive??? I never lost the desire to eat! I have always been hungry from day 1! So with that being said I think the doctor removed my sex hormones instead of my hunger hormones!! Does that make sense? Thank you!!
BayougirlMrsS 3,935 Posted January 27, 2020 First question... How old are you? I had my Lapband at 42 and by 44ish... my sex drive went through the roof. Did it start when you got WLS? Are has it just started? I'm now 51 and i could still go every day. I started menopause about a year ago and found it's not as "intense" as it was. But i still have the desire. Most of the time (not all) people become more sexual after WLS. 1 Nikkidoodlebug reacted to this

However, I always attributed it to being stressed and tired from work. 1 Nikkidoodlebug reacted to this
Lynda486 784 Posted January 27, 2020 I never thought about it, but yes I did lose my drive after my VBG. I also have some other issues such as I am in menopause for 2 years now ( I am 54) and have never had a hot flash and I don't have hair under my arms. so something hormonal is in the works. Weird how the body works! 1 Nikkidoodlebug reacted to this
JRT Mom 919 Posted January 27, 2020 I would think it would be hormonal rather than a side effect of WLS. If anything, I think the WLS would make one's sex drive higher, since better self-esteem and confidence comes with losing weight, and that helps bring the sexy back! 3 leabears, BayougirlMrsS and Nikkidoodlebug reacted to this
GradyCat 3,695 Posted January 27, 2020 I don't know your age, could you be going through menopause? I didn't have any loss of sex drive and I'm 55. 1 Nikkidoodlebug reacted to this
Nikkidoodlebug 120 Posted January 27, 2020 I am 42 years old and will be 43 in June. This has been for sometime and it is really depressing to me! Yes I have thought that I am going through menopause because they say that having the gastric surgery that it can send your body into early menopause. I just don’t know what to do?!?!?!😢
JRT Mom 919 Posted January 28, 2020 Talk to your gynecologist. He/she might suggest hormone replacement therapy. That should help with your sex drive! 1 Nikkidoodlebug reacted to this
