Surgery 1/9- localized pain in lower tummy

Recommended Posts

So I’m past my one week post op. Was doing great and two nights ago I think I may have hurt something. I have been having severe localized pain in my lower tummy to the left of my bellybutton. Anyone else experience this? Called the dr office and they increased my muscle relaxer pills with Tylenol. Took the edge off, but I still feel the nasty stinging pain underneath.

It is probably a torn muscle. I had my surgery a few months ago and I developed a cough just a few days after surgery. During one of my spells, I had an awful burning pain develop on my lower right side. It ended up being my abdominal muscle tearing, the one my surgeon anquored my incisions into to prevent hernia. It hurt like burning Hell for weeks but it eventually healed.

I did this on my lower left hand side of my tummy. I went and got up to quickly and tearing is what I felt accompanied by a burning feeling in the area went to my doctor he said it was fine and normal because of the movement I was making. Told to take it easy maybe your moving way to fast or shifting your body in positions where it’s still tender. Take it easy and move at a slower pace.

I had mine on 1/7 and have the exact same thing; have been reassured by my physician and family doctor it’s completely normal and should go away within 6 weeks. Where they stick the trocar near your belly button and injured near by muscles and a lining on those muscles which is generally the source of the pain. I had another laparoscopic surgery in early 16 and had the same pain and it went away within about 6 weeks.

I was wondering this same thing. I had surgery on 1/10 and had very little pain afterwards. Suddenly over the last 2 days I've had a hot burning pain below and to the right of my belly button. It hurts worse when I'm sitting vs standing and walking. Feels like I've torn something or a hernia but I don't feel anything protruding.

Within the last week mine has calmed down quite a bit and in fact last night was the first night I remember sleeping comfortably since having the procedure

Mine has also calmed down. Not all the way but better. I saw my Dr just as a precaution but he checked me out told me the same thing, that it's normal and should subside within 6 weeks or so.

This happened to me and I went to my doc. He told me that the area I was having the pain at near my belly button was the site of the surgery. Once they pull out your stomach organ they stich the muscle layer and skin so its the most painful area after surgery.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
