GreenTealael 25,439 Posted January 21, 2020 Can you take 3 weeks? Dehydration, fatigue and bathroom discomfort in the first month is common. Good Luck 💚 1 ifyosunkwo@gmail.com reacted to this
VirgoSocialWorker 5 Posted January 21, 2020 I’m only able to take one week off. My surgery is in 2 weeks...I hope it’s enough time to recover and get back to work. I’m in an office setting, but I’m pretty activite running around.
Deemar007 244 Posted January 21, 2020 If you can, I would take 4 to 5 weeks off. I too work in the dental field. I know how fatiguing patient care can be. Yes, you are sitting, but we use our core muscles a lot. However, you may be a lot tougher than I am. Good luck with your upcoming surgery. 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
bandsmom74 21 Posted January 21, 2020 Quote I've only been out one week (surgery was last Wednesday) but I'm bored at home and already ready to go back. I have a non-physical office job though! Have been surprised with lack of pain and how well as a whole everything has gone! I have to wait until my post op appointment to be cleared though, but am considering going back Monday! 1 HLsleeve reacted to this
Zoomzoom 45 Posted January 21, 2020 I also mainly sit for my job and went back after 2 weeks. I still get really tired by the end of the day and wish I could've taken a bit more time. Pain wise it was fine, but you will be adjusting to a whole lot of things.Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app
Megarooni 0 Posted January 21, 2020 I was out for two weeks and worked from home for two more weeks. Luckily my work is super flexible and I can do my job from home when needed. I wish I would have taken 3 weeks just to completely heal and get down the eating and sipping before throwing in work but it worked out.
Fatboyslim1 204 Posted January 22, 2020 You should try to take one week off, then work 1/2 days for a week or two. That should be enough
kfunk307 18 Posted January 22, 2020 I took three weeks, with one week working from home. I would take a minimum of two weeks if possible. My second week after surgery was a bit hard for me. It got easier from there.
Chris NH 12 Posted January 22, 2020 I ended up taking six weeks and I am glad that I did. My big fear was dehydration if I returned to work too early and the extended time also allowed me to really focus on each of the new phases of eating. I know six weeks is a lot so I would say at minimum two weeks-remember, this is abdominal surgery and you will be sore from the bending! Also, while we are in different professions, I do see clients throughout the day and since returning to my sit-down-job it is still hard to get my Water intake in (could be just me but I don’t like to be sipping away while clients tell me their life stories. Feels unprofessional).
🌱VeGan❤️HeArT🌱 97 Posted January 22, 2020 I managed with two weeks off, it was exhausting though. I really limited my activity the best I could, but even then I was still walking 5+ miles a day. I just felt so weak, with such little calories and activity, I guess that’s to be expected. 1 carlacv reacted to this
-fart-kab0b- 11 Posted January 22, 2020 I go back to work tomorrow after a month off. My job is too risky and dangerous to go back so soon after surgery. I work in a psych ward. I personally think everyone should wait a minimum of 3 weeks. I'd also rather go back to work on at least the puree stage rather than liquids.< /p>
Starwarsandcupcakes 2,071 Posted January 22, 2020 I’ll be off a total of 8 weeks but I’m also having 2 surgeries in that timeframe so I know my experience isn’t typical.
JB1 37 Posted January 22, 2020 I have an office IT job and daily 3hrs of driving. I took 10 days off and went back full days. I had no problem with liquids, Vitamins pain etc. and could have gone back sooner. Its different for everyone. I was tired after each day of work and just went to bed earlier. jlb8080 45 Posted January 22, 2020 I went back after a week. I do have a desk job but I wasn’t tired or anything at the end of the day.
