I was scheduled for January 28th FMLA and Short Term disablilty at work all set, I found out I was approved today, paid off the rest of my balance I needed to pay before surgery which was $800 and the rest I can pay off after surgery. Well my surgeons office called back and said I need to pay another $800 before surgery because they didnt know I had a 50% Coinsurance smh I dont have that kind of money after already giving up $800 today so I have to wait until Mid-end February To have schedule I will get my new date Monday im just discouraged but im trying not to be. good thing im approved and the office can just call my insurance and change the date but now I have to call my job and change everything with my short term disability, FMLA 🤦🏽‍♀️ Im so frustrated I wish I was rich

Ugh. I know how you feel. You are still moving and making progress. It's just a speed bump but you will still get it done. I have to wait till mid February too. I plan on staying busy, decluttering and organizing my whole house and hopefully the time will go by quickly. We'll get there!

You should look into getting a CareCredit card, They work like charge cards but are only for medical bills. If you pay them off quickly there's no interest, so maybe that could get you in sooner.

Yeah look at ways to borrow the money.

if it's only $800 surely a family member would help and you could pay them back quick enough...

A few ways to make extra $$$ quickly:

Airbnb- become a host or host an experience

Rideshares- UBER, Lyft, etc become a driver

Grubhub- become a delivery person

Ebay- sell things you dont need

Instacart- become a personal shopper

Care.com- baby/house/pet sit

Bank loan- borrow $$

Current job- ask for an advance

401k/ IRA/ Retirement plans- borrow against/withdraw from

Pawnshop- pawn things until you need them again (especially jewelry)

*These also work to build a rainy day/emergency fund*

This lifestyle change can get expensive or maybe you want to begin saving for plastics

Good Luck 🏆

I know you're disappointed, but better to find out now than on the morning of surgery and get turned away. You'll come up with the $800 and your life will be so much healthier and better after the surgery. Hang in there.

Take heart, as disappointing as the delay is - it is just a delay. One month in the scheme of things will not matter to your journey. Wait until you stall for a month, and then come and vent!!! Just giving some perspective...

This is a bit of a blow 😞 I'm sorry ❤️

When something like this happens I try to look at it and think that maybe someone was looking out for me and maybe it wasn't the right time for me to have it done. I guess it's the hippy upbringing I had haha. I'm sorry about the setback - I hope something comes up that will help it along.

Gee some ppl like to live in a fairy tale...not everything is roses and peaches and not every negative is a positive..

We need to experience and embrace pain in order to grow and it builds character...

I had a lot of set backs as a child and I learnt everything happens for a reason and it has moulded me into who I am today :D

Unfortunately it means I don't like to sugar coat anything..

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
