11 Months Post-Op - Still Losing?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved 2/20/2019. Nearing the one year mark! Obviously the weight loss has slowed down but I'm curious if anyone is still losing this far out? I started at 273 on the day of surgery and have gotten down to 181 but have been here for a couple months.

I stalled quite a while but now at a year post-op I'm starting to lose again.

Well it depends on how much weight you need to lose and how quick or slow you lose it...

Some people take 6 months others may take 2 years...

It's a very vague question...

I kept losing until I was 20 months out. But the stalls became more frequent and lasted longer the further I got out. I kept thinking "well, this is it...", but then my weight loss would start up again.

I've met my goal. I've lost 92lbs (105 since the pre-op diet) but would like to keep going - which was why I was curious if some people are still losing even past the one-year mark. I know we're all different - was just a vague question to get some feedback on how others are doing at one year post-op and to keep my spirits up that it is possible to keep losing : )

Well when I started my first goal was to get to 200lbs and see how I look;

I'm currently 196 and I've decided to keep going my healthy bmi says 180 so who knows where I'll end up...

That's awesome! It's such a good feeling - I'm chasing the "healthy BMI" too - about 25 pounds away I think. Congrats to you, this is NOT an easy thing we're doing!

I'm a year and four months out with my sleeve and it's really slow. I've lost 5 lbs. in the past 90 days. But as long as it slowly moves in the right direction, I'm happy. I feel great!

      Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
      What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

      I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
