I am 7 month post op, and just found out I’m pregnant

Recommended Posts

Well, I’m freaking out! I am 7 months post op, I’ve lost 57lbs so far, and I just found out I’m 5 weeks pregnant!!! I don’t know what this means for my weight loss, what this means for the baby. I’m just freaking out!!! Isn’t this way too soon?

Deep breaths it is soon BUT you need to tell your DRS asap... and they need to get you on the right diet and Vitamin plan ASAP. I have seen some people have healthy pregnancies this soon out but they had DRs who were super involved early on. Its is possible to have a healthy pregnancy but there are risks... But congrats to you and your baby just talk to an OBGYN and bariatric teams ASAP.

Ok as a male i sure am glad me and my dog got neutered - I have seen this type of post to many times - This correlation between WLS and getting pregnant is scary

I have no advise for you - except call doctors! but do have congratulations on the new little one! Guess it is a bonus to WLS. Enjoy the journey and new baby! 🍼

Congrats! And call your surgeon immediately. Get them to give you a referral to an OB/Gyn. Go see your bari nutritionist.

Congratulations! As others have already said, talk to your surgeon and let him/her know.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
