Humana requirements

Recommended Posts

I’m starting my Weightloss surgery journey, I’m literally at the beginning I’m talking seminar beginning. I have questions about the requirements for Humana gold plus is the also the plan I have. I’m covered through a Medicare Advantage plan and aside from the program fee and the dieticians visits I’m supposed to have $0 everything? Does anyone else have this plan who has had surgery?

I have the Humana Choice Medicare Advantage Plan. I’m not 100% sure of the difference between the Gold plan and mine, but I know they cover everything Medicare does. I was also required to pay my dietician visits. If your plan requires a PPO and you don’t use one, you will pay more. I had co-pays for Pre-op tests like the cardiologist & psych visit. As far as the surgery itself, all I paid was $295 per night in the hospital. I was in two nights ($590). EVERYTHING was included in that - surgery, surgeon, anesthesiologist, labs, and anything else while I was in the hospital. Humana also covered my first couple of office visits with my surgeon after my surgery. Your Humana book should tell you what they will cover - just look under surgery. Humana also approved my surgery within 2 days of my surgeons submission. I hope, this helps you somewhat. Good Luck on your journey!

I had the surgery a year ago and I was on Medicare Advantage through Humana, PPO Plus, not Gold Plan. It covered everything after my deductible. For the whole surgery, pre-testing, hospital stay, everything, I think I was out $600 total. Good deal!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
