Hello Everyone,

I hand my Bariatric Sleeve on 1/9/2020 and the pain I’m feeling is no joke. I was not prepared for this much pain happening and I’m constantly burping all day long. I got pain mostly in my upper abdominal areas and pain on both sides especially on my right abdominal side. I also just stared passing gas a day in a half ago and it hurt during that time also. Have anyone experience this and can give me tips on finding relief?

It hurts, but you gotta walk walk walk. Walking will take care of that gas buildup pain (not the stomach gas as much, but the stuff in your chest and sides). Keep drinking Water as much as you can. It sucks, but you can get through this. Gas-x chewables helped me a bunch for the stomach gas, too.

I was told that walking, even if only in your home or driveway is key to expelling the gas.

Hi Everyone. Had my gastric sleeve on Mon, 1/6/20 and discharged on Tues, 1/7/20. I walked several times the day of surgery and the following day. My belly became severely bloated and swollen as I was getting dressed to leave the hospital and got even worse the next day. Wednesday I spent half the day researching how to reduce the swelling and bloating and found one medical center that said they put abdominal binders on every bariatric patient immediately following surgery. Received my ab binder from Amazon on Thursday and was amazed at how much better I felt immediately. My weight when I got home on Tuesday was 7 pounds more than the day of surgery. Wednesday the scale showed 1 pound less. Thursday, 1 pound less. Friday, after wearing the abdominal binder for one day, 3 pounds less. The light compression helps support your stomach and helps your body release the excess Fluid. I wish I had thought about it before surgery and been prepared. I had liposuction and a Tummy Tuck years ago and compression garments were placed immediately after surgery so makes sense to do the same after bariatric surgery. That swelling and bloating has been the worse part for me and could have been avoided had I been prepared.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
