Vegetarian post op meals

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! I have started the process of getting approved for surgery and I feel like I am not sure how I stay on a vegetarian diet after surgery. I am a horrible cook and I hate to cook also. I really like that I eliminated the inflammation in by body by going vegetarian and I really don’t want to go off but I’m nervous about after the surgery any suggestions because now I kinda just steam veggies or cook the morning star burgers eat. I have only been a vegetarian since September 2019. Still very new n learning. Help please I appreciate all you can offer. Thank you in advanced!

I am also a vegetarian, and once you get off the liquid diet it's not hard. I eat a lot of refried Beans and lentils, tofu, ricotta and cottage cheese. eggs, if you eat them, are a great Protein source and I love them (never could eat them when I had my lap band!) I take the Amy's vegetarian frozen dinners, and after thawed I get four meals out of them. Once you can eat some rice, you can make a meal out of two or three pieces of vegetable roll "sushi". It may be a little harder to get enough protein in, but I use the Isopure zero carb protein Water to help with that.

While you are on your mushies stage google "Eggface's Ricotta Bake" It's delish! I still eat it even though I have no restrictions now.

I don't know a lot about vegetarian and vegan or the difference between the two, can you have eggs and cheese? Those are good sources of Protein.

I'm vegetarian (have been for 49 years) - I did as JRT Mom says and at first had refried Beans, eggs, cheese, etc. I also made the famous ricotta bake that's on this site somewhere. I eat Quorn for Protein, beans, etc. Check out the thread, I think it's in General, called something like 'before and after'. There are tons of meals in there to take inspiration from.

Just wanted to add... curries are wonderful and really easy to make and you can make it for the whole family, just skip the rice at first. Use tofu, a few sliced almonds and a bit of Protein Powder to ramp the Protein aspect up.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
