You're actually a year and a couple of weeks. :) Congrats!

Thanks!

Wasn't my surgery on 12/26/19 just a couple of weeks after OP's surgery date of 12/10/2019?

Or did I reply to the wrong post?

Tinesia

That sounds miserable. Like is that sustainable for you in the long term? Where is the animal Protein?

I’m trying to cut out my meat, and get Protein with plants. Muscle milk, and bulletproof are animal based protein, I’m using what I have left over. The plant based diet sits so much easier on my tummy. Eating meat is miserable to me now, it’s so heavy. Protein comes in many forms plant based, quinoa, chia seed, Flax seed, nuts, Peanut Butter, Beans, legumes, nutritional yeast. (Animals eat plants, that’s where they get there protein from). I’m just cutting out the middle man...(animal).

You are just early days hon. You are still healing. Of course meat sits heavy in your tummy. Eat things like foil wrapped fish, or tuna/chicken salad right now. Things that are wet and light.

I’m pretty happy with cutting the meat out, now vegan balls, boca crumbles, and tofu are also In my diet...there is plenty of plant based Protein to go around. I had been working towards a plant based diet for awhile. The surgery just helped push me along a lil quicker. The hubby is doing it with me as well. He is borderline full blown diabetic, has high cholesterol, and high blood pressure. He said if all is numbers improve, he will gladly stay away from meat. So far both our energy is up, and we just “feel” good.

Sadly, most vegetarians I know are quite obese. It's a noble concept, but not really that healthy compared to a balanced diet. I'm staying away from anything with a face

Some vegetarians do eat a lot of processed foods, which sadly can make for obese vegetarians. I didn’t get to this thread because I made the best of decisions but am definitely taking this second chance at life to make better choices.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
