Loose skin dilemma

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Had VSG a year ago and lost 55 lbs. I had the lapband and of course converted to the sleeve. I experienced loose skin with the VSG as opposed to the lapband, even though I lost more weight with the lapband. I do not want any surgery to remove the loose skin although it’s not that noticeable to someone else, but more of a concern to me since I have to look at it everyday naked. My face is small naturally, but it now looks sunken. I started exercising four months after the surgery; however the loose skin is still very present.

Any suggestions? Intimacy is on the back burner because of this. Help!!!!

I don't know that there's much you can do outside of plastic surgery, unfortunately. If there's not a lot of it, exercise might help - but if you have a lot of it, there's only so much you can do...

You've put whoopy on the back burner because of this? Nooooo! It's your basic human right! ;-)

If you are afraid to get your kit off in case your amore judges you negatively, then replace him/her with someone less shallow.

If you are afraid to get your kit off in case you judge yourself negatively, you can always do what my Other Half suggested to me (when I was feeling similarly sensitive): - "Stop looking in the mirror so much." 😮;-)

I know that sounds glib and insensitive, but that's what it boils down to. I took his advice, and my floppy bits don't bother me so much any more. 🙂

Yes, I have. I seem to have less self confidence now than I did when I weighed 256 lbs. I am now 165. My Mom did tell me if I take my clothes off in front of my man and he goes to the store for milk and never comes back, he wasn’t meant for me!!
Moms Gotta luv em

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
