Stop vitamins before surgery?

Recommended Posts

I am getting ready to set up my appointment for late Feb. for a modified TT (skin only) and brachio. I am so anxious.

I need to just call, pay the deposit and commit to it.

i will have an appointment 2 weeks before to discuss details but i wanted to ask if any of you had to stop your high dose Vitamin for a day or longer before surgery.

I have had surgery 3x since my RNY 5 years ago, and every time they have me stop ALL supplements for 7 days beforehand.

I was told to stop 1 week before as well, but I totally forgot to to stop. Oopsies. I ended up taking them right up to the day before surgery. I didn't remember that I was supposed to stop until like a week AFTER surgery 🙄

P.S. So excited for you!!!

No, I was told to keep taking all my Vitamins. I just had to stop fish oil because it's a blood thinner.

Hi! I’m going in on Wednesday for an arm lift and my surgeon said it was ok to take my Vitamins but just didn’t want me taking any Vitamin E. My multi vitamin has some vitamin E in it but it’s low enough that it’s ok to still take. Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
