So exciting!!! I’m sooo nervous/excited and for some reason starting to feel sad..I hope that’s normal. I think it’s the thought of change..but I’m optimistic. What state are you from? I’m in N.C.

I'm in Maryland! I'm also nervous/excited, and tbh the fact that this was sprung on me so unexpectedly is probably a good thing... my next appt, which wasn't supposed to be for another month, is now on Tuesday, so I can't do any "last meals" or crazy binges on all my favorite junk, like pizza, ice cream, etc. Am I the only one mourning the loss of crap food?

Absolutely not! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] I have been having "food funerals" every week.

It's MY time!

I'm just nervous period that somehow my surgery will get cancelled due to all the nonsense. Like its low priority or hospitals get overwhelmed with people freaking out. They've already cancelled school for the next month, store shelves are empty, I'm going to be mad if this ridiculous hysteria makes me get cancelled.

My employer decided to spring on me 6 weeks pre-surgery that they are most likely not approving my time off for surgery (still pending one more possible leave option, but it's looking unlikely). I decided that I want my surgery way more than I want this job, so went into overdrive and got a different job with a previous employer. It looks like it is going to mostly work out -- I will likely have to start orientation at the new job quicker than the original 2 weeks I wanted to take off, but it will be classroom training, which should be do-able.

I don't have to start my pre-op diet until a couple days before surgery, but I am contemplating getting into ketosis now so I don't have to go through that at the same time I am having surgery.

I am excited and nervous as the time gets closer!

Its stupid that we should have to go to these lengths. If it was any other surgery they would be on board. However if you have been at that job for more than a year I believe they dont have a choice beciase FMLA protects you. Honestly switching jobs is probably better as I wouldn't want to work for someone with that attitude anyway! I'm glad ita all working out for you!

Still hoping that mine goes off on time, but I have "volunteered" to fill any empty spot that may occur between now and then due to fear of COVID-19 or travel or whatever. I think my medical center is deciding as we speak about elective surgeries. Their concern is the shortage of PPEs (surgical gowns, masks, booties, hats and gloves) to keep a sterile environment in the ORs. *Shrug* We'll just have to wait and see.

Congrats!!! This is random, but do you (or anyone else who sees this) obsess over the surgery? Wondering if it will be approved, worried that something will change, etc.? If so, how do you manage it?! I literally have a hard time sleeping now bc it's always on my mind! ALWAYS!

Yes I'm so worried about this whole thing. I have not heard from nurse if I'm approved. Hopefully this virus goes away as quickly as it came. My last step is picking up my Optifast . Then surgery

God help us all !

So mine was just cancelled. We have less than 50 cases in the entire state, and they cancelled all surgeries. I'm so upset.

Solo,

try not to be too upset. Due to circumstances beyond control; it took me two years to get mine. I started watching what I ate and exercising more and lost 35 pounds before my surgery. I can feel your pain but try to stay positive.

Hi it’s.time. My surgery was cancelled and it will be TBD. It was schedule for April 9 and let’s say your surgery is set for 4-16 and they resume surgery, yours would be pushed back and the March folks will get surgery . The coordinator also told me that everyone will be 2 weeks behind. If things resolve I might have my surgery in May or June. It also all depends if people want to wait it out. Who knows. This might be a scheduling mess.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
