it seems to be pretty common that people's hormone levels get screwed up for a few weeks or months after weight loss surgery. It should normalize after awhile. The reason is that estrogen is stored in fat cells, and it gets released and floods your system during rapid weight loss. Or at least that's the claim. Makes sense to me! At any rate, what you're experiencing is not unusual.

I actually got my period 4 days after surgery and it was early. Now I'm about 4 days past when I should of had it. I'm sure itll be off kilter for a while!! Thanks.

I haven't had a period in like... three years. I had my surgery Monday and, lo and behold, guess what shows up this morning? Ugh. Hormones are crazy.

Surgery was on 5/25..period was due 5/26. It never came. However, for the past week or so, I’ve been having intermittent cramping, nausea, backache and spotting. I had JUST gotten my hormones back together after removal of my IUD 2 years ago prior to surgery. Now, it’s all jacked up again lol. Oy vey! 😩

hormone dumps are very common after WLS due to estrogen being replaced from fat cells. It'll eventually stabilize.

I had one right after my surgery, then I haven't had another since. I definitely have the hormone fluctuations and moodiness when it's around the time I would, though. I'm basically waiting for it to surprise me at this point.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
