Recommended Posts

They are letting you have the surgery knowing that you smoke?

My doctor wont, My insurance wont cover any benefits either if you smoke.

Ok so you quit before surgery and started again 4 days after? This will impede healing time tremendously.

I do hope that you are able to stop for good. Mind over matter ;)

You run a high risk of causing ulcers, necrotic tissue, not healing properly. You need to stop now, why go through life altering surgery to get healthy and wreck it all with the cancer sticks

You really need some nicotine Patches to help you quit. Non smokers don't get the addiction side of smoking and it is more involved than just doing it. I quit using Alan Carrs quit smoking now book, smoked from 13 then at 36 read that book and couldn't wait to get to the end of it to stop! No grieving the loss of the cigs at all. You aren't allowed to quit until you finish the book either, believe it or not lol. Good luck.

It's NOT WORTH IT! Stop it! You're going to damage everything you went through and hope to accomplish in the future just to smoke? Didn't they tell you that you couldn't smoke afterwards? Please don't do it. Stop smoking.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
