Wanted a fill. Doc said no. I'm HUNGRY

Recommended Posts

Hi did you go private, if so surely he has to fill you. your spot on the reason we all got banded was because we had no portion or snack control. However listen to your body, i was banded on Jan 07 and it has been a roller coaster ride, listen to your body it knows alot more than any doctor does. i have lost 98lbs and need to lose 30 more. got filled 2 days ago. i told the fill doc to put .5 of a mill in, he said he would put 1.5 in, and check it on xray. well the Fluid he gave me would not even go down, my band was clamped shut, so he took out half of the 1.5 and i am now very tight can barely eat or drink. i new .5 would be enough but he put .75 in. i will persevere until i lose my 30 lbs bur will then go back to my original fill.

I was banded in August, but have not had a fill yet...my doctor says that since I have been losing steadily, I don't need one, but I do have times when I really feel hungry.

I am going for a visit on Tuesday. I am going to insist on a fill. It will be too hard to get through the holidays feeling hungry. I don't want to undo all that I have accomplished.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
