I dont know if I’m messing up. My nutritionist said I should be around 500-700 calories in food which I’m in between but I still haven’t started the gym and I’m scared I might be eating to much for 2 months post op. I haven’t really started the gym because I’m at physical therapy for three days out the week and working the other four and I don’t know if I should hop to it and just get the membership because I’m scared of the increase in calories I might not end up losing anymore weight or I might stall. I know it’s probably nonsense me asking but do you guys think I should start the gym anyways or cut back on calories?

IMHO, neither start gym now of reduce calories.

Focus on walking and physical therapy exercises while continuing to eat the proper macros (always ask your Nutritionist) for optimal weight loss :

Carbohydrates provide 4 calories per gram, Protein provides 4 calories per gram, and fat provides 9 calories per gram.

So to stay in your recommended caloric range you would want around 60/80/90 grams of protein (240-320 cals), around 50 grams or less of Carbs (200 cals or less) and 20 or less grams or less of fats

e.g. : Eating 80 g of protein-320+200+180= 700

BUT please remember to check with your Team about their specific macro recommendations

The gym can happen once you feel up to it just exercise/move around in daily life as often as possible

Good Luck❤️

If your activity level is low there's no reason to add calories. I'm 10 weeks post op nearly and I'm still around 500cal most days.

My exercise WAS PT and walking on a treadmill for the first six months. Eventually, my back hurt less when I lost some weight and I graduated to personal training.

Sounds like you're where you need to be now in terms of calories and you don't need the gym right now. So I' think you're fine where you are.

Start walking (10,000 steps per day) and doing wall pushups at home.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
