Is there anyone that could share an example of what is looked at on your lab work after a RNY bypass. Don't know if it is just Calcium, and different Vitamins, exc.... My primary care physician has a full lab in his practice. He said if he knew what labs are drawn for then he will taylor it for me every 90 days and it won't cost anything through my insurance company. But if I have labs drawn anywheres else will cost me handsomely.

Maybe you could call your surgeon or have your PCP call to find out. My surgeon is ordering labs for me. I’m lucky as most of my medical people are connected on the same computer system (But not the same practice) so they can see what each other is doing as far as labs, tests & results, etc.

I'd have my PCP contact the surgeon to see what he/she recommends. There are likely several tests that need to be run. I know I have several that have to do with Iron, plus Vitamins B1, B12, D, Calcium, I think magnesium - a few others, too

I have 11 vials of blood taken by my surgeon. He checks for everything. On the other hand a family member gets two vials and her surgeon checks only for- A1c, cholesterol, Calcium, Protein, B12, Iron, Bun creation ratio and panel of Vitamins.

I posted this a few months ago.

Had 6 month physical yesterday with my primary physician. Pre surgery I had high blood pressure, high liver enzymes, high A1C (Type 2 Diabetic), suffered regularly from Gout. All of these are now normal.

My Test came back too high and my BUN/Creatine Ratio was too low. I was concerned that my test was too low!

TESTOSTERONE, TOT.,S.
This result is high
1303.0 ng/dL (249.0-836.0 )
BUN/Creat Ratio
This result is low
9.5 Ratio (10.0-28.0 )
