3 years post op, settled in at around 230lbs. I could be eating cleaner but YOLO. 😜 I still work out and have been doing some mountain biking and reliving my youth.

I'm about 9.5 years out with a sleeve. I am within a couple pounds of goal and only gained when put on a med that's notorious for weight gain, but most of that fell off after I changed meds. Other than that I have stayed in the same window for years.

I know that we all know this, but exercise matters! I did absolutely no exercise after my surgery. I was more active in my daily life but structured exercise was never something I added. I've been working out with a trainer - because even being small I am still 46% body fat! And I have very little muscle compared to my overall weight. So I'm lifting and generally getting much fitter. This may or may not result in a weight change, but I'm hoping that I'll have more endurance and feel stronger.

I eat like I always have, moderation in everything, though obviously protein/carb balance is a bigger focus now that I'm lifting. Those that knew me back in the day know that my BMR was crazy low before my surgery, and I have been able to bring it up to about 1160. I eat about 1500 calories a day, which is just enough for my goals - seems low to my trainer, but he understands my surgery. But it still feels like a ton of food because I really do have a lot of restriction. Seven "meals" a day, folks!

All in all, still hanging in. Incredibly grateful for my surgery.

Cheri

Wow everyone is doing so well! Congratulations! I, unfortuately am in a low spot (and I don't mean low weight). I was sleeved in Dec 2014 and lost 100 pounds. Started at 236 and got down to 135. Maintained for a couple of years, then in the 3rd year started gaining. I'm up to 170 now and feeling really down about it. Can't believe I let myself gain like that. I have just returned to BariatricPal and week one of trying to get the extra pounds off. Cutting carbs, increased Protein, and being more active. Would like to lose at least 20 pounds to feel more comfortable. We'll see. You all are inspiring and motivating!

You can do this!! Go back to the very beginning of your Forever Diet (FD) and follow all the rules you were meticulous about following before. Losing 20lbs is DEF do-able hon!!! Do it now!!! Welcome back!!! Now get focused!!

I had a sleeve in 2014 and lost a total of 100 pounds. From 272 down to-172. I have averaged from 175-177!for the last year or so.
I have slid off the exercise wagon this fall due to weather and illness. But trying to make an exercise come back. During the summer I walk daily.

Hey! It’s great to hear from people that have been successful and those with challenges. I was sleeved in March 2012. My highest weight was 235 and my lowest was 117. I became an ultra runner and was able to maintain at 135-145 for a few years without work. I was okay with this. It was comfortable and I could eat what I wanted.

Then I took a new job and went back to school. I stopped exercising and continued to eat like a runner. Two years later I am sitting at 187. I am uncomfortable and unhappy. I’m happy to share that I changed jobs again (my start date is July 1) so I won’t be commuting and I will have time to work out.

Now I need the mental strength and fortitude to get it done. Running is not the same for me, but I am trying to get my ish together. I am starting all over again. I am trying to recommit AGAIN. I start and then fall off the wagon. Horrible cycle!!

This is what brought me back to BP. I find myself in the horrible loop of saying, “I just need to get through this week, weekend, holiday, etc and then I’ll start”. There is always a date, a weekend getaway, stressful week at work and so forth. I am sad that I know what needs to be done but I still make poor food choices or am just too lazy to exercise.

Thank you to the vets that post. Hopefully I can find my way back to a healthy weight and lifestyle.

5 years po. Down 380# still losing. 30# to go. Had skin removal upper body. Not worried about lower. Girdles are cheaper than surgery and a lot less painful. This was a 2 years ago. I turn 60 in a month. New picture then. I'm 80# lighter... [emoji4] 20200714_150542.jpg

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
