alissajs 230 Posted December 31, 2019 This may be a really dumb question but...I'm starting my preop clear liquid diet today. I have sugar free Jello cups, but everything im reading online says no red coloring for clear liquid diets. Does that mean I can't eat the strawberry/ cherry jello?? 1 Slownstedy reacted to this
c566 1 Posted December 31, 2019 That would be correct. At least, that is what my surgeon told me. But, I have no idea what that is. 1 Slownstedy reacted to this

JRT Mom 919 Posted December 31, 2019 No red Jello? I thought that rule was only if you were getting a colonoscopy since the red dye could interfere with the visualization of the colon. I'm not sure why that would affect WLS. 1 Slownstedy reacted to this

Losingit2018 1,170 Posted January 1, 2020 No red because it shows up as veins in X-ray I specifically asked about this.
Kimberly3 71 Posted January 1, 2020 Crazy! My doctor said nothing about red Jello. That is the only kind I ate it's amazing how different surgeons are! 2 sillykitty and JohnTaylorsFan reacted to this

I was told before that anything with red dye makes it difficult to visualize the tissue and lining of intestinal track, stomach, etc. It makes things "too pink" and can give look of possible inflammation, which you dont want during any medical procedure.
