Thanks everyone for all the encouragement and support. I am checked in, gowned up and ready for some meds. Lots of love and luck going out to all my surgery twins today. [emoji170][emoji171][emoji170][emoji171][emoji170][emoji171]

Hi everyone I really appreciate they words of encouragement. Procedure was at 10 today. The pain meds they give don’t even touch the pain and I don’t know what to do I keep telling them. All they come back with is well they cut your insides and outside so your gonna have pain....

That's rude. I had my own personal nurse and was hooked up to IV drugs for the pain; was out of it slept for like the first 2 days straight then they were on anytime I pushed the buzzer looked after me like a king

Some of that pain may be the gas they used to expand your stomach. If you get up and walk around it will go away. The only discomfort you have is with the incision, no pain on the inside as it doesn't have pain. I walked around a lot to break up the gas and left the next day, no pain meds used at all. I took a Tylenol PM when I got home. The gas can cause a lot of pain and pain meds won't help. You need to move and walk.

Best of luck. It’s the best decision I ever made!

You should have an IV for pain meds from what I've experienced with other surgeries and from what I've seen. I know we all have very differing pain thresholds. Also, as painful as it may be walking does move the gas around and gets things moving. Even a few baby steps back and forth should be beneficial. I'm proud of you and congratulations.

The calmer you are the better. I have now had several surgeries, the best piece of advice anyone ever gave me is that if anything happens you will never know. So just relax and go with the flow.....

Good news for you the hard part is over.

First night is uncomfortable. I had that too. I was getting dilaudid along with steady doses of pain pills first night. I didn't get much sleep that night due to waking up for more pain meds.

Next day nurse took me for a slow paced half lap around the ward. Felt so good to move a little we did another full lap. I was ancy to get dressed and go home after that!

Once I was home, pain was easily managed by scheduled doses of pain meds. By Day 4, I only took them when I felt pain coming back. Make sure you have at least 4-5 days of pain meds when you get discharged and MAKE THEM LAST. You may or may not need them all. I was pain pill free before end of first week.

Pain is still a struggle, found out they tore a muscle under my diaphragm and that’s where all the pain is coming from. It makes it hard to breath and when I stand or walk my stomach pulls down on it and makes it cramp! 😩😩😩😩 I need it to hurry up and heal!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
