Ok, so here is a question for everyone...i had my sleeve surgery done Nov.1, 2019. Ever since, not sure if it is weather related or not, but, since i have been eating foods after the surgery i sneeze, like between 3 to 5 times. I dont sneeze during any other part of the day, just after i eat. I have heard about getting the hiccups, but not sneezing. Any other sneezers out there?

Runny nose or sneezing after you eat is very common in WLS patients. Our altered anatomy makes us subject to "Gustatory Rhinitis" or "Snatiation". When we get full, it triggers a reflex and makes us sneeze. Not everybody gets it, but I sure do! Plus, I don't even have to eat until "full", sometimes just a little snack will make me sneeze like 6 or 7 times in a row!

It was horrible when I worked in an office. I swear people thought I was typhoid mary. I work from home now, so it's just me and the dogs sneezing and snorting away. My family just kind of jokes about it saying, "one more, mom, just one more."

Hi! I was just sleeved 12/23, so not even a week out. So glad you asked this question as I was wondering too! I get a runny nose after I eat. It really starts after the first 2-3 tiny bites, I'm just on full liquids, so Protein Jello, cream Soups, but still. I thought it was weird as I'm lucky to never suffer runny nose unless I really have a cold. Does this resolve months later or just gonna be my sign I'm full?

I sneeze 3/4 of the way through every meal. Its a good warning sign that I am getting full.

I am ten years post GSleeve and I think my stomach has stretched but I get terrible sneezing fits and runny nose after a meal. Even with low fat and Portion Control, I still cannot judge it right. Some days it sits well, some days I lose my mind sneezing. Very worried about returning from my own business to a office worker. It's really full on. I think I will stick to Meal Replacement for lunch.< br /> Although I can still smash a steak like a caveman!

I was sleeved on 3/3 and I have been sneezing more than usual. I’m going to be more conscious of it now to see if it’s happening around drinking Protein time. This is is so cool to know.

Protein Shakes almost never give me discomfort, it's just a tough call when choosing it over a real meal. Breakfast on an empty stomach is the when my I'm the most sensitive. A little yogurt, cut fruit with a tiny bit of honey sets me up for the day.
Oddly enough I went to a "raw foods" restaurant. Where the food isn't cooked above 40c? I went in with zero expectations but I ate plenty with no gas, or discomfort. Generally the healthier the foods, the less trouble they give me.

But this is all after ten years post op and I still have to be very mindful.

Get to love boiled eggs as Snacks, low fat foods and simple food combinations.
A burrito, or any stacked sandwich with (fats) cheese, Beans (carbs), meat (protein), dairy dressing and spice... I might as well stick a shotgun on my mouth!

But I am no longer carrying around two suitcases (100lbs) with every step, which is a good thing.
But that's all the physical, the mental attachment to taste stimulation is a different ballgame. Don't replace it with booze.
Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
