justsleeveeverythingtome 1 Posted December 28, 2019 Hello All! I’m 2 weeks post-op and noticing that I’m feeling hungry (or at least I think I am) every 90-120 minutes. When I am eating, I’m eating high Protein foods/liquids. How long should I be “lasting” after meals? I don’t want to feel like I’m starving, because then I’m afraid I will overeat when I finally do eat. Is this normal? Have others experienced this? Thanks! 🌱VeGan❤️HeArT🌱 97 Posted December 28, 2019 Are you drinking your Water? Honestly I had a lot of head hunger, but when sticking to my water and protein...was quickly reminded, I was not physically hungry. 1 justsleeveeverythingtome reacted to this
Losingit2018 1,170 Posted December 28, 2019 (edited) This is normal at this stage. We are not able to eat enough at each meal to keep us satisfied. I saw my dr at my 4 week mark and was told that I will feel like I am grazing at first. Once the swelling goes down I will be able to eat just 3 meals per day and 2 healthy Snacks when needed. I feel that it is best to eat when truly hungry rather than let appetite get out of control and eat something I shouldn’t or eat too much. Dee2938 71 Posted December 28, 2019 This is normal and will pass. I first felt hungry all the time after surgery. And, although I would get full quickly, I’d get hungry again just as quickly. I was really worried that I wouldn’t loose enough, or that the surgery would not work for me. But soon this passed and now I’m rarely hungry. I could go all day off of a handful of almonds or a couple of slices of ham if I let myself. I have to remember to eat. 2 justsleeveeverythingtome and Khaleesi15 reacted to this
mike2019 12 Posted December 30, 2019 Your doctor may or may not prescribe you topiramate, an appetite suppressant once on solid foods.
Vicki McNair 2 Posted January 3, 2020 I was hungry starting 3 days after surgery, but now I'm in week 2 and adding 2 Protein Drinks. It seems to be curbing my appetite.
Lacycox89 1 Posted January 5, 2020 I'm 5 days post VSG. I feel like I am starving. My dr approved a full liquid diet + anything that could fit through a straw. Yesterday was the first day I felt hungry. I am also very alarmed because I can drink fluids consistently without issue. Today I drank a whole 10 ounce Protein Shake in 15 minutes and felt fine..all day I drink Water and I have no pain once or ever. Is this normal? I don't think it is I'm really wondering why I feel no restrictions. Tonight for dinner I ate a 4 oz jar of green bean baby food, 2 slices of mashed/watered down avocado and a teaspoon of watered down refried beans..I ate it with ease and was still hungry...thoughts? And yes I had already hady my Protein for the day and almost all my water...help! 1 Fat2FabMyWay reacted to this

Once you get in firm or sold food, it will all change. However don't forget to avoid drinking before or during meals once your food changes. Also I was never to use a stray as it adds air to your pouch that can stretch it out.
