Low bmi 31 banded converter to mgb

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I lost 100 lbs on band but had severe stuck problems and got my band removwd and converted to mgb. Now 14 daya post op, stiches have healed but every now and then i have severe bile reflux andnif i have some thing spicy i have this terrible feeling of throwing up. My lead surgeon is from europe who came just to perform the mgb in my country where a follow up surgeon takes care of follow ups.. But he is not too experieced.. I have some acid and somw bile reflux, out of which bile relfux i never had with the band... I am super scared to eat anything, doctors say it will settle... Is there a medication i can take to fix my bile reflux.. They gave me metaclopramide which really does nothing but make me throw up or does little to control the bile reflux... Need help from. Fellow patients.. Does it get better?

My surgeon wrote to me saying

"It’s too early. See how you go I am coming in first wk of February. If needed we can do procedures to divert bile"

Does that mean another surgery?

I have lost 7 kgs and am now 28 bmi, to eyes i look like super fit but internally i am super weak.

Thanks

Would stay away from chilli stuff for a while coz it could irritate and hurt the healing

It’s entirely too early post op to eat spicy stuff. Probably the reason for bile and acid reflux. Most important things to concentrate on are fluids (mostly water) and Protein. Your pouch is still healing and will be healing for at least 6 to 8 weeks.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
