Had my surgery yesterday around 10:00 am. So glad it’s over. Everything seemed to go well I just can’t lay down or pass any gas so the pain is rough. Nurses don’t give anything because they say gas meds don’t work because this gas is within the cavity of the body. I just hope this passes soon. Anyone have a cure?

The gas pain can be rough. Walking is the only thing that really helped me! I was not in the hospital for very long, but I did not stay in the bed, I sat in a chair and kept getting up to walk as often as I could manage. Even at home I have tried to not nap or lay down during the day so I could get better sleep at night.

I had my surgery 2-5. I've lost about 19 pounds since the surgery and about 65 pounds since I started the program at our hospital. Everything went well. Had some major shoulder pain from the gas after the surgery. The pain meds they gave me made me nauseated and dry heave. Don't know how to spell it. It was called dellotted or something. Other than that things are moving along. I'm on the puree diet and trying to fit some food in there. It's a slow process. Drinking an ounce every 15 mins was torture for about a week.

Have you tried the flavored non carbonated Water from hint? It's delicious and has no artificial or natural sweeteners. I'm addicted to seltzer Water and am transitioning to non carbonated using hint. The watermelon is particularly refreshing.

Those are my favorite drink especially cucumber flavor

I did it. I had my sleeve done on the 28th. They have not let me go home yet because my hemoglobin is low. But I feel really good. I think second day was the worst with the gas pain, but it’s gone. Yesterday I was sipping away, I thought they lied to me and didn’t take my stomach. today I feel like I’m swallowing air so I’m keeping it slow. Over all I’m feeling really good. How’s everyone else doing.

I think that since it’s now March, we should make a February 2020 post op thread.

I had the gastric sleeve on 2-19. I have been able to meet my Protein and liquid goals since day 3. The first week I was tired and kind of week but no pain now and almost back to normal this week. Riding the exercise bike again. Down 13 lbs since surgery. So happy I did this.

Happy for you!

I started a new post-op thread for us. Not sure how to link to it. It’s in the post-op forum.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
