Okay, will have my surgery tomorrow. So today I am on Clear Liquids. Vodka and Wine or clear liquids right?Just kidding.Seriously the 2 week liquid diet has not been that bad.Seems like the Protein digest slowly and keeps me pretty full. And I have dropped 12 lb. Definitely am tired of the commercial Protein Shakes. So I've been primarily making my own smoothies And adding different flavors. So all of you that are having surgery tomorrow with me, are you ready?

Hey @DB in AZ I’m ready. I’m extremely nervous just starting today to get really bad. I keep looking at my kids and wondering if I’ll see them again(I know......I’m being ridiculous). But anyways, I think I have everything ready. My pre-op is going good. I can eat 3 ounces of lean meat for lunch and dinner but I haven’t even really wanted to. I’m amazed that I don’t feel hungry.
anyways, tomorrow.....here we come!!!

Good luck! I don't know if there are people who go into surgery without being nervous, but I've never met any. I am 8 days out, and I feel really good! I think you are going to be surprised at how quickly you start to feel better. And between what I lost during the pre-op diet (lengthened by the flu) and since the surgery (about 15 pounds, nearly 10 of which were pre-op) I already have less knee pain, and an easier time going up and to a lesser extent down the stairs. You will be able to enjoy your kids so much more. I can't wait to hear how you are doing!!!

@lisafrommassachusetts you are so right. And I will try to remember that. That’s good to hear about the pain and mobility since I really struggle with that. And I have decided that my children are one of my biggest motivating factors for this surgery. They eat and drink unhealthy stuff just like I do but I never want them to have to struggle like I do. I have a family history of this and if that cycle is going to be broken then I will need to do it. I don’t want my children to struggle with all of the issues that come with being morbidly obese ever! So I am making it my mission to teach them healthier ways. Anyways, I guess I needed to type that out to remind myself of one of my biggest reasons for going through this. Lol

I am 100% in agreement with you. Majority of the women in my family on both sides are obese and my youngest son is slowly getting heavy. I feel like once I get vsg and change my eating habits he will start to slim down with me.

My anxiety is SO ON. I have had the most stressful 2 weeks and I feel so unprepared. I am an over-planner and over-prepare for everything and things aren't currently going as planned so im totally freaking out. I had to take five minutes to meditate earlier today cause I felt like I was going to lose it. Crazy thing is I'm not really too nervous about the procedure itself- just everything being in order. Sigh. I wish I wasn't such a neat freak/perfectionist.

I hear you! My (adult) children and husband will suggest I have some, ahem, control issues....and there is no feeling in the world where you are less in control than being wheeled into an OR to be rendered unconscious! Everything will be fine! And if you forgot anything, that's when friends, family, neighbors or good old Amazon come in handy.

Goodnesss yes, exactly. I feel such an overwhelming need to make sure everything is good to go beforehand. But I think you're right I'll have some help along they way, so maybe all isn't bad. I'll try to keep reminding myself.

I am two days out from surgery now, on clear liquids today and tomorrow and the struggle is real. Sorry for the TMI but...the hardest part of all of this has been the Constipation from the high Protein liquid phase! I'm so nervous it's going to be just as bad on the post op liquid diet. Did anyone who has already had surgery experience major constipation and how did you manage it?

Right here! I'm struggling with it right now. I've added Miralax twice a day to my drinks, bought some Fiber, as well as upping my Water intake. I also have metoclopramide from a previous surgery and I took that so I would just go! I can recommend what my nutritionist told me today - more fiber! You can also look into some fleet enemas or suppositories. Good luck! 👍

I love that about the kids it will be a success because they are just instinct when it comes to having what we have lol. So my kids have eaten my popsicles my Jello and the little one tried my pudding today. But it makes me happy because I know these are sugar free treats that I will continue to share with them. Thanks for sharing and much success to you 😃

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
