Hop_Scotch 1,632 Posted December 24, 2019 You may be better placed to follow the more general post op guidelines...liquids, purees, soft foods then standard foods, with a focus on meeting some Protein minimums (typically about 60gms of protein per day). This may help with the transition from liquids to standard foods. If you were not give any guidelines from your surgeon or dietician, if you google 'pureed food bariatic surgery' you will find lots of suggestions, here is one I found https://www.upmc.com/services/bariatrics/surgery-process/post-surgery/diet/pureed, foods lists as well as timeframes will likely vary from clinic to clinic. Your surgeon or dietician may also have some suggestions for you. 2 1 Losingit2018, eporter and FluffyChix reacted to this
AJ Tylo 1,399 Posted December 24, 2019 Not sure but never heard of a pastry being in post op diet - I agree with above follow a planned pureed diet - 1 1 lvidacovich and FluffyChix reacted to this
lvidacovich 372 Posted December 24, 2019 4 weeks is a LONG time to be on liquid only, especially if you had a 2 week pre-op liquid diet as well. I'd say follow your plan BUT talk to your team, see if you can progress. By 4 weeks I was cleared for anything other than salad and raw veggies. 1 FluffyChix reacted to this
FluffyChix 17,415 Posted December 24, 2019 You must follow the doctor's food progression for you. Where are you supposed to be at 4 weeks, per his plan?
Johnny2Thumbs 29 Posted January 6, 2020 I was also on a 4 week post-op liquid plan and it sucked. I went though all sorts of massive cravings as my body was detoxing from all that junk I used to eat. I'd actually walk through grocery stores looking at, smelling and planning on which foods I was going to eat once I got off the liquid phase. In retrospect, most of that was head hunger. Your hunger and feelings for certain food will eventually fade. The foods I used to absolutely love really don't have any appeal to me anymore.
