When do you get rid of clothes?

Recommended Posts

When did you all get rid of your old clothes? I feel like I'm a bit of a hoarder who needs mental help to get rid of my men's size3xl clothes when I now wear a men's size medium or a woman's size large. Any of you all have that experience as well?

I've been getting rid of mine as I go along - taking them to charity shops or keeping them aside to sell on ebay. I kept a couple of pieces of my largest size, just to remind me.

Ha! This is a great thread. As I have waxed and waned through the years I never got rid of clothes because I knew my loss was temporary and I eventually would be back in the big ones. Then I got a lap band 10 years ago and thought it would be permanent so I got rid of all my big clothes. After 8 years the weight crept back on and I had to buy new big clothes. Now I've had a bypass and am starting to wear the smaller ones again I saved. This time I'm gonna trust the process and as I outgrow them I'll donate them to Goodwill. My uniform scrubs I will alter because I am NOT buying new ones--I'm technically retired, so I'm too cheap to spend the money on them!

I got rid of all my old clothes. I do not plan on going back. I can wear a size 4 now. However, I will not expect to stay that size. So I will keep the siz 8 to 10. I lost enough in case I gain the 20 pound average at year three. I am 26 months out.

I got rid of mine as soon as I started shrinking out of them myself. In the interim, I bought comfy workout clothes until I returned to work. Then I bought 4 pairs of stretchy pants a little small with tunic tops to wear over them so nobody could see they were a little too tight. But now I dont fit in those either lol. I just bought a new wardrobe of medium shirts dresses, and a couple size 8 Jean's. I figure I will stay in the medium shirts for a while, but I think I will need new pants soon

I donated all of my large clothes to charity. I am on my second round now and instead of donating, I've taken a few things I just bought to the tailors to be taken in. Cheaper then buying new. As I am still of a certain large size, goodwill and used clothes shops don't have my size still. I look forward to being able to shop their someday soon.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
